Tuition Assistance Program

Valley Art Institute is committed to keeping art instruction affordable – especially for parents in the vulnerable lower and middle incomes – while also paying staff a livable wage and benefits and offering quality programming in the fine arts.

Sliding Fee Application:
Discounts apply to tuition costs at Valley Art Institute, not including supplies, workshops, or
costs of special programs or field trips.

Sliding Fee Requirements:
When applying for the sliding fee program, fill out the application for tuition assistance.
Student identification and address must be provided. Acceptable methods include a valid
driver’s license, state ID card, employment, or other picture ID. A copy of the prior year’s
income tax return for each individual living in the household is required to verify income.
If employment has changed since the filing of that return, copies of the last three months
paycheck stubs or payroll records showing year-to-date earnings are required.
If the applicant has had no income for three months or more, this must be verified through
some other official agency records, or by written statement from a landlord or other person
outside the household having knowledge of the applicant’s financial situation.

If You Feel You May Qualify:
Please complete a Financial Assistance/Slide Fee Program Application and return it to
Valley Art Institute.  Our address is; 21028-B Victory Blvd.  Woodland Hills, CA  91367

Approval for Sliding Fee Program:
You will be notified by phone when your application has been processed regarding your eligibility.

Term of Sliding Fee Program:
Once approved, your application will be valid for a term of six months unless there is a
substantial change in household makeup or income. It is your responsibility to reapply when
the current eligibility period has expired.

Common Questions:
When is Tuition due? Tuition is due the 15th of each month. If the 15th falls on a weekend,
please turn in your tuition by the preceding Friday. Any payment not received by the 15th of
the month is subject to a $25 late fee.

Do I have to pay for days when my child does not attend school?
Yes. Because this income is critical for sustaining our operating costs, we cannot give refunds
or “make up” days for illness, vacations, or emergency weather closing.

What proof of income do I need to supply for the sliding scale?
If you would like to participate in our sliding fee scale, please make sure you have supplied
two pay stubs for each wage earner or a copy of last year’s tax return. Families not providing
information about income are subject to the highest rate offered.

Other Fees:
New Students pay a $75.00 registration fee and an annual continuation fee of $40.00.
There is a $15.00 materials fee applied once per quarter.
